The Brief

The over large patio was tired and laid with grey concrete slabs.  This narrowed to give a a corridor effect to the rest of the garden which was infrequently visited, despite the sun shining at the bottom of the garden for most of the day.  Several conifers had outgrown their position and the view from the kitchen window was poor.  The garden had to be low maintenance and child friendly.

The Solution

To give a feeling of width, the design was set on 45 degrees. Conifers were removed to open up the view from the kitchen window, the patio was reduced and a secondary seating area in the sunny part of the garden incorporated. A walkway covered with a pergola invites the user to walk up to the end of the garden and also increases privacy from the neighbours. A beautiful italian copper willow tree water feature sits in the lawn and is lit at night so it can be enjoyed from within the house.
