This north facing front garden was fairly uninteresting with the shade and poor drainage leading to a weedy, mossy lawn. The clients were keen for something that was both modern and minimalist in line with their tastes and also had kerb appeal. Low maintenance was a key requirement.
The lawn and hedge were removed completely and a checkerboard of Marshalls Drivesett bricks laid. A minimal plant pallette of Buxus sempevirens cubes, Iris foetidissima and Carex testacea 'Old Gold' were used randomly in the squares. Stylish Gwyn Carless lights either side of the path and mounted to the wall, together with recessed LED lights in the path to light the new step, finished the look.
