The house benefited from being near to a stream but the whole area around the strem needed a radical re-think. It was unattractive and also felt unconnected to the stream. The stream was unmanageable due to weak stream banks.
A deck was designed that would be at a lower level so that you could be nearer to the stream. The design allowed access from both the sun room and the lounge doors. Lead facing was both contemporary and tied in with the lead on the roof. Bio-diverse planting will greatly enhance the bank area, while coir rolls are designed to give strength to the banks and allow plants to root through them. A glass panel is underlit and at night the ripples of the stream appear to be dancing on the glass in a magical way.
Testimonial
"We very much enjoyed working with Anthea on the plans for our garden decking. Anthea’s brief was to join up the garden and the house, which are separated by a stream, possibly using decking. We were delighted when Anthea returned with plans that achieved just that, but with an elegance that we could not have imagined. Every detail in the plan was sympathetic to the house and to the rural setting. We are very happy with Anthea’s work"
